2 Experiments with budget 6mm MGO panels, dry lining or grp frame & Kingspan or cardboard insulation

The second prototype was tried , using drywall steel frame & cardboard in fill. The edges were sealed  with silicone sealant & expanding foam . This seals the air inside the cardboard inner.

WARNING: Although the outer frame & Mgo board is highly fire resistant, the cardboard inner is flammable, so should one be used in low fire risk out buildings.

Alternatively the frame can be made of dry wall, which for reduction of bulk in transport, can be stored inside a larger size length

The mid beam was made by screwing off cuts of drywall together , having slid one into another

Expanding foam screwed in to seal edges of cardboard to increase insulation value & seal air gaps

A sheet of plastic was placed on drying foam & a 12mm ply board screwed down to keep foam expanding into air gaps & not escaping. Plactic sheet used to stop foam sticking to board.

If the pressure of the foam expansion bends the board, a machine press, like our prototype here may need to be used like here

Treated 6mm Birch Plywood Shingle Off Cut Cladding Shelter Experiment

Treated 6mm Birch Plywood Shingle was screwed to 2m Plastic Door edge strip (DES) horizontal battons. 42mm & 75mm drywall screws were used (no extra glue)

The off cuts were donated from a local fencing co. that also make rabbit hutches, from which these off cuts arose

Off cuts were dipped in decking / fencing preserver, so a few 'tide marks' are present.
This was done to get more preserver deeper into the wood .

We wait to see how it weathers & it will hopefully make our first prototype shelter more attractive (still going strong after 2.3 yrs)

Hurricane Damaged Shelter Recovery Proposal Method for British Virgin /Caribbean Islands / Usa with little or no budget
Hurricanes Harvey and Irma Damage, America Can’t Afford to Rebuild 
1. Collect wood that is plentiful due to fallen trees / joists / stick frames 
2. Sort or cut wood into 50mm /70 / 140mm thick planks
3. paints planks with preservative 
4. Clad & nail / screw planks inside galvanised drywall lining channel or purlins, salvaged from destroyed buildings 
5.Drill holes in structurally sound brick walls, insert plastic walls plugs , glued in with injection resin or adhesives
6. Screw metal clad  planks to wall, horizontally & vertically , so a 2.4 x1.2m sheet can be screwed to it    
7  Fill insulation voids with plastic bottles filled with polystyrene or bubble wrap (or sand / soil / water if thermal mass / heavier wall weight required) .
